  8. i was told i needed to get a bigger drainfield?

    July 29, 2010, 12:33 pm
i have been having problems with septic tank overflowing. well we dug it up and found out we have a graveless system with infiltrator chamber system. well we had someone come out and he said we had a 225 sqft drainfield and he would add on another 225 sgft for 2300 a rough est. it was designed for 3 people but there is 6 now. it was fine for 2 years but all of the sudden the water was coming out of the lid in the morning after 2 showers and bath in a 2 hour period in teh morning and sometimes at night but then we had it pumped and 2-3 weeks later it did it again. but we have 3-4 infiltrators. the contractor said he would be another infiltrator and another pipe but a smaller infiltrator but little deeper. but cant we do this ourselves. he says our system didnt failed its the drainfield needs to be bigger. how do you get the parts and the instruction if you want to do it yourself i mean there is no gravel its a soil system of some sort. i mean we can do it if its legal.

To decide whether you need one, you must first understand how it works as well as its pros and cons....(read more)
